Sweet As Anything - and kinda addictive

Sweet As Anything - and kinda addictive

Its finally here!  The pattern to make this cute needle case with the English paper pieced hexagon cover is ready for you.

And its FREE!

When I finished my first one I actually said "Sweet as anything" out loud, and bingo it had a name. LOL.

The Sweet As Anything Needlebook is such a satisfying little project to make, and as soon as I posted about it on Instagram, my inbox was inundated with messages from people asking for the pattern. To be honest I just winged my first one in Strawberries and Friends fabric, so I worked backwards through the process and have created step by step instructions with lots of photos.

The Sweet As Anything Needlebook is an achievable weekend project.  Its the perfect combination of relaxing hand stitching, as well as a fast finish. The project sheet assumes you have basic knowledge of EPP.

It is totally suitable for beginners. You just might need search online for a tutorial or two if you are new to EPP. Once the outer panel was hand stitched, I constructed the needlebook on the machine, but you could also easily hand stitch that part too.

A simple tie to secure the wool felt pages and its done.

Free Project Sheet

Here's that link again

I started a second one almost immediately.  This time I used the soft, chintz-y florals from Tilda's Chic Escape and Daisy Field.  I added some hand quilting in pale pink, just because I wasn't done with the hand sewing on this one.

The lining is a nice place to showcase a precious print, particularly a larger scale one.  Here I have used Wildgarden in Teal

I don't plan the fabric placement.  I just let the colours fall where they will, but that's perhaps something I will play around with next time around.

I'm absolutely certain that I'm not done making these yet.   The need for another is bubbling up.  The pull is strong and I swear: they are addictive. Be warned - you may not be able to stop at one either. That's Ok though because I'm seriously thinking a different case for all the different types of needles I use.  I think they are also a pretty charming little handmade gift for my quilty pals.

Need a kit?

I have a limited number of kits to make your very own Sweet As Anything Needlebook in Ruby Star Society Strawberries and Friends, and in Tilda.

Kits contain fabrics, hexie papers and template, wool felt and yarn for tying.  Just add a scrap of batting from your stash and you are ready to roll.

I've lots of ideas for more kit options (of course in Ruby Star Society) so stay tuned for those

Check out the kits here

Don't forget to share

Once again here is the link to register for your copy of the pattern

Enjoy.  Wendy

I’m part of a group, who teaches children the art of crocheting, knitting and sewing. We do it during lunch time for those students who are interested in learning a dying art.
